Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

I've been a Plusnet customer for many years. I have always received excellent customer service from their UK call centres & any faults have been promptly rectified. They have become a bit expensive, but I will sort that out once my present contract expires. We are 800 yards from our green cabinet, so I am more than happy with my speeds of 43/13.

Being with Plusnet for years and the service is in my view for the money a B rated service! Being a subsidiary of BT they seem to use the low end of the equipment racks at the exchange going by the retrains and drop-outs! They have not even implemented IPV6 yet. They need to come out of the coal mines and start to catch up with the rest of the industry!

Their slogan "We'll do you proud" means nothing. Totally unreliable, kept cutting us off even though they'd been paid, it took them 3 months to connect us properly because their modem couldn't connect. It took a BT engineer to sort it out. I do not recommend Plusnet to anyone. They are a rubbish provider.

Only problem I have is that Plusnet do not have a plan to install full high speed fibre directly to the house, all other suppliers seem to be able to do this, I have been told by Plusnet that I can switch over to BT without any extra charge, I do not want to do this as Plusnet have a really good customer relationship. but I cannot wait forever. I think that the service is second to none, just a pity about the fibre problem.

Problems are so rare with our Plusnet Business Package that it can become easy to forget how good the service is. During June, my Broadband download speed went down to around 10% of what it should be. Plusnet took this very seriously and demonstrated complete commitment to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and all is back up working at full speed again. It showed that it's still a worthwhile investment in the business package for people working from home. Cheaper is seldom smarter.

The support front line team are very good and try their best. The problem with my ISP is the lack of quality and the slow implementation of things like IPV6. Being a subsidiary of BT could be the reason, as BT have IPV6 and could be holding Plusnet back.

I have been with Plusnet since 2013. I am still not satisfied with the improvement of service which was promised by them as far back as 2014 after the IPV6 trials and that we would have better service all round by 2020, sadly this is not really the case at the time of writing this in May 2022. We still have not got IPV6 implemented even though they are a subsidiary of BT and BT have had as an example IPV6 activated across the board for quite some time! The latency seems to be a problem with this company even if using a decent non company supplied Router, although a separate 3rd party router does improve this by an acceptable amount when you use a 3rd party router rather than their own supplied router which is cheap and very poor quality! They need to stop treating customers as having zero IT or Net experience, which may've been the case years ago, but no more! People are very aware of latency speeds and the importance of upload as much as download speeds also IPV4 and IPV6 and better connections to updated equipment within exchanges. Plusnet really need to get with the times and come out of the dark ages, or they will end up falling so far behind other IP markets they will end up obsolete, which of course will not be good for progress for them as a company and of course even worse for its customers!
