Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

Plusnet really need to catch up with most other IPs, the lack of IPV6 still is showing no investment, also the terrible lack of FTTP! Perhaps BT are holding them back, as they are a subsidiary of BT or a cheaper version of their owners.

Had full fat FTTP installed at beginning of September and its been a blast ever since. Great reliability and speed matched what I'm paying for no problem. Price pint means great VfM.

Overall reasonable performance but in the evening it is a bit variable

Simply the best broadband provider I've used over the past 20+ years.

I've only just switched from EE to Plusnet. The change was simply to save a little money on the monthly fee. We're pretty limited as to what we can get in my area, all the ISPs offer more or less the same up and download speeds. The routers are similar and the reliability and customer service are good. There's no real discernible differences in the other aspects of the basic packages. That said, the changeover was smooth, the set up very easy and everything has been working satisfactorily since I became a Plusnet customer.

Plusnet is being held back I think, and they need to get with the times and catch up with many other IPs they have not even implemnted IPV6 yet also. The only real positive I can say about Plusnet is the customer service base, if not offshore!
