Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

Plusnet are a terrific provider. I do have a beef with my ancient and honourable email address (Metronet). I'd like explained to me as if I were 5 why the storage cannot be expanded.

We've been a Plusnet customer for over 12 years & enjoy 1st class service. Having a UK call centre is a big plus! About 4 years ago BTOR kindly installed a new overhead line from a different pole after our service failed. Ever since then we have had a permanent internet with good, steady speeds of 43/12 which, considering we are 800 yards from our green cabinet, is excellent. Giganet are installing fibre in the village at the moment. The number of complaints from new customers is amazing & many are going weeks without any internet or any contact. We will definitely be staying with Plusnt.

Plusnet being a subsidiary of BT seems to be getting worse over time. They have still not even implemented IPV6 yet BT have had this for quite some years. Plusnet whether being held back by BT I cannot 100% say that it is true or a 100% factual, but they are so behind the IP game not just in their indoor Tech but also their FTTC and definitely not going forward at all fast enough in the implementation of FTTP. I would have recommended Plusnet, although I did in fact recommended it too many about 6 years ago, but now that is no longer the case, and once 100% FTTP is implemented fully in my area which is very soon by other IPs I will be leaving Plusnet after many years due to their inability to keep up with the moving times and competition from other IPs.

I’ve been with them for about 20/22 years. Moved twice since then and always went well My one bugbear is not their fault. I am unable to get fibre or fibre to the premises here in Cornwall- living in a town! Why because my line is at the exchange!!! However whenever I have needed to speak to someone it has always been dealt with very friendly. All staff I have need to speak to have been great. Not one rude or short. Always helpful Definitely hope fibre because available via Plusnet as I don’t want to leave them.

You get what you pay for. Yes, BT are more expensive than othher companies, but, they are super reliable and the published speeds are quite accurate. I have tried other providers, who were cheaper, but they have always let me down with speeds and reliability.
