Summary

NOW Broadband service sits under the same umbrella as Sky, but it’s very much its own thing. Where Sky focuses on full TV bundles and higher-end broadband options, NOW goes for simplicity. It’s designed for people who want a straightforward internet connection without being tied into long contracts or paying for features they don’t use.

Additional Comments

Because it runs on the Openreach network, the actual connection quality is much the same as what you’d get from BT, Plusnet, or Sky. You can choose between three main plans: Brilliant Broadband (average 11Mb), Fab Fibre (average 36Mb), and Super Fibre (average 63Mb). These are roughly equivalent to standard and fibre-to-the-cabinet connections, so you’re not getting full fibre speeds yet, but it’s more than enough for most households that stream, browse, and work from home.

One of NOW Broadband’s biggest selling points is flexibility. You can go for a standard 12 month contract if you want to save a few quid, or pay a little extra for a rolling monthly option. That’s quite rare among bigger broadband service providers and makes it handy for students, renters, or anyone who doesn’t want to commit long term.

The setup process is generally smooth. If you’ve already got an Openreach line, switching over tends to be quick, and the supplied router is fine for everyday use, not the most advanced, but it gets the job done. Speeds are consistent, though like most providers on the Openreach network, what you actually get will depend on how close you are to the local cabinet.

NOW’s customer service is handled by Sky’s broadband team, which is one of the more reliable ones in the UK. Wait times can vary, but you’ll usually get a resolution without too much back-and-forth. You don’t get quite the same premium touchpoints as Sky, but you’re also paying less each month, so that’s fair enough.

Where NOW Broadband packages really stand out is value. There aren’t any flashy add-ons or inflated prices after a few months, and you can still bundle in NOW TV memberships if you want access to entertainment, cinema, or sports channels. It’s an optional extra though, which keeps costs low for those who just want the internet.

FTC connection, just moved over to a Netgear 3rd Party VDSL router, using option 61, with the connected PC's MAC address without the colons.

Generally okay. Speeds roughly 50% of the quoted numbers, but adequate for my needs. Biggest issue was with the coverage of the WiFi router - absolute rubbish. Fortunately had a spare TP-LINK router which I now use together with the NOW TV box as the modem. Works fine.

Replaced the provided hw which was rubbish. The connection is pretty good, though not the cheapest. Rolling month to month costs make it easy to try before you buy

New to NowTv migrated from Talktalk after they wanted 35.99 for broadband. Having been with TT even though they were hacked and lost thousands of subscribers, it appears like most service companies loyalty does not count. So far as its only been a few days NowTv appear reasonably reliable, with TT was getting only about 20Mbps tops with Now started on connection day at 37 but has dropped to 29-30. This is still within the ten day line monitoring period so will keep checking and logging on Thinkbb
