Summary

NOW Broadband service sits under the same umbrella as Sky, but it’s very much its own thing. Where Sky focuses on full TV bundles and higher-end broadband options, NOW goes for simplicity. It’s designed for people who want a straightforward internet connection without being tied into long contracts or paying for features they don’t use.

Additional Comments

Because it runs on the Openreach network, the actual connection quality is much the same as what you’d get from BT, Plusnet, or Sky. You can choose between three main plans: Brilliant Broadband (average 11Mb), Fab Fibre (average 36Mb), and Super Fibre (average 63Mb). These are roughly equivalent to standard and fibre-to-the-cabinet connections, so you’re not getting full fibre speeds yet, but it’s more than enough for most households that stream, browse, and work from home.

One of NOW Broadband’s biggest selling points is flexibility. You can go for a standard 12 month contract if you want to save a few quid, or pay a little extra for a rolling monthly option. That’s quite rare among bigger broadband service providers and makes it handy for students, renters, or anyone who doesn’t want to commit long term.

The setup process is generally smooth. If you’ve already got an Openreach line, switching over tends to be quick, and the supplied router is fine for everyday use, not the most advanced, but it gets the job done. Speeds are consistent, though like most providers on the Openreach network, what you actually get will depend on how close you are to the local cabinet.

NOW’s customer service is handled by Sky’s broadband team, which is one of the more reliable ones in the UK. Wait times can vary, but you’ll usually get a resolution without too much back-and-forth. You don’t get quite the same premium touchpoints as Sky, but you’re also paying less each month, so that’s fair enough.

Where NOW Broadband packages really stand out is value. There aren’t any flashy add-ons or inflated prices after a few months, and you can still bundle in NOW TV memberships if you want access to entertainment, cinema, or sports channels. It’s an optional extra though, which keeps costs low for those who just want the internet.

Reasonable speeds with good availability.

Great service. No problems and the best provider I've used so far.

Was decent but recently customer service has declined considerably. I agreed a new contract but then the agent failed to update information and entered a higher price in the billing account. I phoned the next day to ask them to sort it. Agent promised to get the correct details sorted but has not done so. Very disappointed - especially as they are raising their prices (surely you should expect a better service, not a worse one!)

NOW ISP (£20.00 per month) never reached the mimimum speed of 27mbs (35mbs sontract) the average speed over the 12 month contract was around 20mbs sometimes dropped even below that, several times contacted them whilst they tried to imporve speed but never worked for more than a day or so before went back to the aveage. Only redeeming point was free landline calls included in the monthly price which is why I stayed with NOW until my contract ended 01-03-2023. Today 21-03-2023 just had installed Vodaphone 100mbs FTTP hoping that will get a least the minimum 50mbs which would be two and a half faster than NOW

Now never reached the minimum download speed of 27mbs didn't expect them to as no other supplier (Talktalk or Vodaphone) ever matched their minimum advised speeds either (FTTC about half amile away). However £20.00 for internet and home phone calls for twelve months seemed resonable, line checked several times by via call centre and did go up to 25mbs but dropped after a few days back to the average of 18-22mbs. Contract ends in March so will be returning to Vodaphone 100 FTTP at £25.00 hoping they will reach minimum speed of 50mbs which if it happens would be twice+ what is achieved now. Only problem being i will have lost landline calls and having to get my self a mobile phone.

I changed from TalkTalk to NOW a few months ago, and the service is much better. Only one drop out since I changed over, and the broadband speed is constant. It is also £10 per month cheaper.

Avoid, poor speeds and connectivity guaranteed
kable 21 Jan 2023 (reviewed 3 years ago)
Cheap but you get what you pay for so, Avoid. Awful router WiFi keeps drooping in and out even when you are feet away in the same room.

NOW Broadband services have proved to be reliable and efficient up to the present. Time will tell, but they certainly deliver what they say they will.

Download speeds not great BUT this is because the router is connected to a spur from the master socket. So I normally get 15Mb vs the maximum, if connected to the main socket, of 26Mb. Anyway this is good for the odd bit of surfing and on-demand TV. Had a couple of issues with the external line recently (2022) and both times an engineer was sent out and changes made (new wires, face plates, pole connection) - So can't fault the customer service. Since the last change connection speed has increased to 20Mb so even better.
