Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. I have moved house. The assistance from BT enabled me to keep my email addresses during the hiatus when I had no contract. They reconnected my broadband a day earlier than they had said and called me to let me know. Excellent service, no interruptions, good speed.

On the whole the service has been reliable although sometimes a device will show the dreaded Still Loading symbol on screen and it fails completely but the main connection to the internet is acceptable.

People complain about BT's Broadband service, but I must honestly say that I've found BT excellent re its broadband and Mobile service. My only complaint is that the Company are constantly increasing their charges! Co9me on BT, we don't get pension % rises like the % increase you make!
mljman 20 Dec 2018 (reviewed 7 years ago)
Been with BT now for over 4 years. During that time the service has been faultless with only minor outages (2min or less). Router failed after two years and this was replaced by return. All in all an excellent service.
pwhaddon 20 Dec 2018 (reviewed 7 years ago)
Speed 15 months ago was 28.6 and stable, now only 21.4 at best, often 6 to 15 in evenings, and frequently interrupted, OR say due to migration problems to new cabinet. FTTP was due to be installed Nov 2017, then May, Nov 2018. Spring 2019 is the new estimate.

Grossly OVERPRICED & the price keeps going UP for no apparent reason, certainly not for any customer benefits. The customer service is DREADFULL all the Helpline operatives do is read from a pre-prepared flow diagram script, and NEVER answer a question directly. When my contract ends I shall be leaving BT/Openreach, because there are much better and cheaper deals to be had from other providers. I am surprised that Ofcom do not have better control over this monstrous concern.
