Local Loop Unbundling plans changed

OFTEL and UK telecoms companies at a meeting on Thursday 18th January have come to an agreement on emergency plans to make sure LLU occurs.

The original group of 25 exchanges has being dropped, in favour of 360 in higher population areas.

The hope is that construction of co-location facilities will start before Easter.

Comments were also made about the costs involved ( three times higher than Germany ) and Oftel has agreed to investigate this.
