The contracts for the Welsh Extending High-Speed Broadband (EHSB) scheme have now been signed. This is a project with two Lots defined to split contracts into projects with more than 1,000 premises and those with fewer than 1,000. The providers for Lot1, the 1K+ premises, are Airband, Fibrus and Openreach, and the providers for the fewer than 1K are Airband, Fibrus and Wifinity. Details have now been released that the contracts have been signed on the 5th June, and we now await information about how these will be split into call-off awards.

Ofcom to auction the upper 1.4 GHz spectrum band for mobile use
40MHz of this spectrum is already available (1452 – 1492 MHz) and is being used by mobile networks in the UK, and Ofcom has now concluded that the upper 25MHz block (1492-1517 MHz) will be auctioned for use. The auction is expected to take place in the first half of 2027. The existing block is in use by VodafoneThree and VMO2, who both use this for supplementary downlink (i.e., from mobile base stations to phones).
