One Touch Switching – Which providers are testing now?

The new Broadband One Touch Switching system is scheduled to go live on 12 September 2024, in under three weeks. This will change how switching supplier will be done and is designed to make it easier for consumers.

Retail broadband providers offering services to consumers have been busy integrating into the OTS system and running tests, with many smaller operators engaging with a third party company to avoid extensive custom development.

What some may not be aware of, is there are already live switches going through the platform. Some providers are using the system as part of industry trials, with a ‘ramp up’ process which has seen 400 orders being processed on Thursday, up from 208 the previous day. This is of course a small fraction of what we expect to see when the system goes live. It should be noted however that only 28 ‘completed switches’ took place Thursday, so this is still very much early days in proving the system works.

A couple of days ago, Andrews & Arnold (AAISP) posted the list of providers on the ramp-up phase from/to which you can switch from/to on the OTS platform. Adding their own name in, this leaves these companies who are at the forefront of trying to make this new system work:

  • Andrews & Arnold (AAISP)
  • BT
  • Cuckoo
  • EE
  • Hyperoptic
  • Now
  • Plusnet
  • Sky
  • TalkTalk
  • Utility Warehouse
  • Virgin Media
  • Vodafone UK
  • Zen Internet
  • Zzoomm

  1. This seems a disaster waiting to happen, old CP has no way to block slams.
