Ofcom number charging scheme may hurt small VoIP providers

Ofcom on 1st April started a pilot in 30 areas of the UK, where every telephone number would cost 10p per year, whereas previously a telco owning a number was free. This small price adds up considerably if a VoIP provider wants to be able to give out a number in any UK area code.
