The Labour Party manifesto has launched so we take a dive into the detail of the plans for broadband.

The first of the main three parties has published its manifesto. This means we can see what they've put down in writing in terms of plans for broadband if they were to win a majority on 12th December.

Back in October Openreach announced 13 villages that would get an extensive full fibre treatment and two of these have FTTP that is live and ready for people to order a service over.

In a surprise move Labour is promising free full fibre broadband for all and to have completed a national roll-out by 2030.

The G.fast roll-outs continue and we have a bumper crop of new exchanges that have been added to our maps in the last six weeks.

Time to throw a handful or two of biodegradable confetti into the air as part of a mini celebration that the UK has reached 10% FTTP coverage.

The roll-outs of full fibre are where the biggest changes are across the UK, but the numerous small BDUK and other projects do continue to have a small impact on the superfast coverage levels.

While the levels of full fibre and superfast coverage continues to increase in new properties they are still more likely to not have superfast broadband than existing homes.

After dodging the ghouls of Halloween there is now time to share the speed test results for October 2019. Covering everything from the Gigabit providers down to the slow old ADSL/ADSL2+ services.

The full fibre roll-outs are still in their early days but with 5 local authority areas where coverage is now over 50%, the promised social and economic benefits should start being less theoretical and observable.
