September 2023 update on broadband availability across the UK, nations and regions

A slightly slower pace for the increase of FTTP availability across the UK was seen in the last month, but the build pace is still massively better than the snail like pace of three or four years ago.

Oswestry has widespread availability of FTTP from Openreach or Full Fibre Ltd already but a cluster of few streets were targetted by Freedom Fibre who after objections are consulting residents on the way forward.

UK grows more full-fibre to bring footprint to 56% of premises

The full-fibre roll-outs continue at pace with the transition from 55% to 56% taking 23 days. If that pace were to be sustained for the next twelve months we could be reporting 71% FTTP coverage in September 2024.

Ofcom confirms UK is over 50% full fibre coverage

Ofcom has confirmed what we said back in April, which is that 50% of UK homes can now access a full fibre service. The roll-outs have not stopped and for homes as of 26th August FTTP coverage was 55.66%.

Again its time for our monthly summary comparing all the nations and regions across the UK. It is still amazing to think that over half the UK now has access to a full fibre option and 1 in 8 properties already have a choice of two different physical FTTP networks.
