June 2024 update on broadband coverage in Ofcom Area 2 and Area 3

The Gigabit roll-outs driven now by full-fibre being built is still pushing coverage levels higher with the more urban area 2 now with 91% Gigabit coverage. The more rural area 3 where less competition was expected is lagging at around 65%.

nexfibre says UK fibre market is at a pivotal point

nexfibre is making the point in a new report that if we take progress in full-fibre roll-outs for granted, there is a real risk of the pace significantly dropping. Their report also suggests that for every £1 invested in broadband, this could return £9.50 to the UK economy.

Point Topic reports UK broadband market returns to growth

In its latest report released today by our partner Point Topic shows the UK broadband market has returned to a slight level of growth. The report shows that in the first quarter of this year, the broadband market saw a small increase against the previous quarter, reaching 28.90m connections, aftwe a decline in the previous quarter.

67% of UK properties now have a full-fibre broadband option available

The full-fibre roll-outs are perhaps just past their peak for the overall volume delivered as some networks scale back build. We've gone from 66% availability to 67% in 29 days so a little slower than recent additional points but still a lot higher then 4 or 5 years ago.
