The Connected Cities scheme has completed its pilot and at least one provider is reporting some success via the project.

The Superfast Cymru project is delivering improvements across Wales, and Bangor on of the first areas to benefit is also set to have Fibre on Demand available. Today sees another batch of 151 communities to benefit announced.

Hampshire County Council has published maps showing the areas that should be part of the phase one improvements in the county.

Bath and North East Somerset has been part of the Connecting Devon and Somerset project since January 2013, and while that is progressing the council is looking to stimulate ultrafast access too.

Now either the councils have been waiting for broadband to hit the headlines, or they have been steadily working to colour in the county maps. Essex is the latest to release an indicative map.

The improvements to telecoms infrastructure in the UK is not confined to fixed line, though you could easily gain that idea, today sees the first mast enabled as part of the £150m Mobile Infrastructure Programme announced.

The DCMS which has been the target of criticism from the Public Accounts Committee is keen to emphasis the progress for its spending to improve broadband in the final third of the UK.

Digital Britain already exists if you look at how much we all spend on online with bargain chasing, and slowly the next phase of making it faster to do things online is progressing.
