Vodafone Broadband

Summary

Vodafone Broadband is one of the most recognised names in UK connectivity. It’s part of a major telecoms group, and for people who already use Vodafone for mobile or landline, adding broadband often feels like a natural step. The attraction is simple. You get a big brand, competitive prices and the option to bundle everything under one account. For many households that convenience alone is appealing.

Additional Comments

Vodafone’s full fibre packages offer good speeds where available. In areas covered by the Openreach or CityFibre network, it’s possible to get strong download rates that easily handle streaming, gaming and working from home. If you have a busy household with lots of devices, it can feel like a big improvement over older copper connections. The brand has also been keen to position itself as reliable and affordable, so it often runs introductory offers that bring the price down for the first contract term.

That said, coverage and setup can make a big difference to the experience. Vodafone’s performance depends heavily on the infrastructure in your area. In some postcodes the upload speeds are lower than what you might get with a pure full fibre provider, and connection quality can vary between regions. Inside the home, the router and layout also play a big role. If you live in a larger house or one with thick walls, you might need a mesh system or extra boosters to get strong Wi-Fi in every room.

Customer service is another area to consider carefully. Vodafone has improved in recent years, but feedback is still mixed. Some customers say the connection is reliable and the support team is helpful, while others mention long waiting times or difficulty resolving issues. If you rely on broadband for work or gaming, it’s worth reading up on local experiences and checking what kind of support you can expect.

Pricing is another factor. Like most big broadband providers, Vodafone’s best prices are usually for new customers. Once your contract ends, the monthly cost often rises. It’s important to check what happens after the introductory term and whether you can switch to another deal easily. Some users also find the contract terms a bit restrictive if they need to move house or want to make changes mid-term.

If your property is covered by their newer full fibre network and you already have a Vodafone mobile plan, the bundle discounts can be worthwhile. It’s also nice having one point of contact for everything, and the My Vodafone app makes it easy to monitor bills and manage your connection. When it’s all working well, Vodafone Broadband feels fast, straightforward and good value for money.

If you live in a full fibre area and want a big-name provider that combines speed, simplicity and affordable pricing, Vodafone is a solid option. Just make sure you understand what happens after the first contract term and consider upgrading your in-home Wi-Fi if you want to make the most of your connection. For many UK homes it strikes a good balance between price and performance, especially when bundled with mobile.

My discounted 75Mb/s FTTH contract was coming to an end, and was going to be subject to the April increase as well. I called up and they price matched the best 100Mb/s I could find - I quoted them the effective cost which included a rebate. At the same time, my phone wasn't working, (I only use it for incoming calls, and most of them are junk), so they passed me on to someone who was very attentive - It required a remotse reset and software refresh on the router. Afterward he remained on the line while I reset the local network mask range, and my wireless settings to the non-standard ones I use, ensuring that all my home automation devices were communicating properly. The upgrade to 100 Mb/s happened automatically overnight; I didn't even have to reset the router. Now geting 106Mb/s down and 21Nb/s up. My only negative comment is that they sent me 2 emails and about 7 text messages warning me that I'd have to plug my phoe into my router, and contact the device providers if I had any alarms etc which rely on the phone line. Given thast I already had FFTH and so did not have a wired phoneline, they didn't need to send me any messages.

New app useless service advice from India sadly failing

Download speed - awful - packet loss using supplied router - switch to basic tp-link to test - improved speed and stability but still nothing over 450Mbs download, even in the early hours of the the morning. Multiple phone calls and web chats, mostly repeating the standard script, no further forward. Had a text today stating the 'fault' had been fixed - called back to cancel. Waiting for callback to confirm cancellation date! Circuit ordered through A&A! Should have done that in the first place! Customer support systems are horrendous - staff very nice but can't deal with technical issues.

FTTC broadband is very reliable and as fast as could be expected with distance from street cab. Recently moved to SOGEA and digital voice via vodafone router. Twice the router has lost registration with their server, customer support and their robot TOBI do not understand the concept of digital voice making it difficult to get them to understand the problem. TRAINING IS REQUIRED.
