Vodafone Broadband

Summary

Vodafone Broadband is one of the most recognised names in UK connectivity. It’s part of a major telecoms group, and for people who already use Vodafone for mobile or landline, adding broadband often feels like a natural step. The attraction is simple. You get a big brand, competitive prices and the option to bundle everything under one account. For many households that convenience alone is appealing.

Additional Comments

Vodafone’s full fibre packages offer good speeds where available. In areas covered by the Openreach or CityFibre network, it’s possible to get strong download rates that easily handle streaming, gaming and working from home. If you have a busy household with lots of devices, it can feel like a big improvement over older copper connections. The brand has also been keen to position itself as reliable and affordable, so it often runs introductory offers that bring the price down for the first contract term.

That said, coverage and setup can make a big difference to the experience. Vodafone’s performance depends heavily on the infrastructure in your area. In some postcodes the upload speeds are lower than what you might get with a pure full fibre provider, and connection quality can vary between regions. Inside the home, the router and layout also play a big role. If you live in a larger house or one with thick walls, you might need a mesh system or extra boosters to get strong Wi-Fi in every room.

Customer service is another area to consider carefully. Vodafone has improved in recent years, but feedback is still mixed. Some customers say the connection is reliable and the support team is helpful, while others mention long waiting times or difficulty resolving issues. If you rely on broadband for work or gaming, it’s worth reading up on local experiences and checking what kind of support you can expect.

Pricing is another factor. Like most big broadband providers, Vodafone’s best prices are usually for new customers. Once your contract ends, the monthly cost often rises. It’s important to check what happens after the introductory term and whether you can switch to another deal easily. Some users also find the contract terms a bit restrictive if they need to move house or want to make changes mid-term.

If your property is covered by their newer full fibre network and you already have a Vodafone mobile plan, the bundle discounts can be worthwhile. It’s also nice having one point of contact for everything, and the My Vodafone app makes it easy to monitor bills and manage your connection. When it’s all working well, Vodafone Broadband feels fast, straightforward and good value for money.

If you live in a full fibre area and want a big-name provider that combines speed, simplicity and affordable pricing, Vodafone is a solid option. Just make sure you understand what happens after the first contract term and consider upgrading your in-home Wi-Fi if you want to make the most of your connection. For many UK homes it strikes a good balance between price and performance, especially when bundled with mobile.

Besides the price increase from £25.00 to £26 and a bit, have had no problems the download speeds reported by the thinkbroadband speed checker are a consitant 100mbs I rarely upload so cannont comment on the 20mbs. Had no reason to contact any support line in the year that I have been with them as a customer

Connection has been solid, for over 2 years, and I'll still getting the advertised download/upload speed and throughput. So if you're after a reliable fibre service Vodafone can deliver. If you need to call customer services, be prepared to be let down at every step. They've been rude, and tried to charge me for not paying when they cancelled the direct debit (due to incompetence). Their technical support is also completely useless, promising to assist or resolve an issue but actually doing nothing, on every occasion. Be prepared to resolve any problems by yourself.

Installers were helpful, gave advice and information willingly, and did an excellent job, leaving no mess or damage. Connection was via overhead fibre cable from nearby Open Reach pole to external junction box, and through the wall to small internal service box. Router provides good coverage for 4-bedroomed house. Broadband (73 Mb/s) and Digital Voice home ‘phone worked from early next day, and performance has been faultless ever since. NB: there is no 1571 service; answerphone message service has to be via handset system.

Vodafone are in my opinion a good provider, the hub router is clever and supports a reasonable broadband wifi signal. What lets Vodafone down is the Openreach lines, so id go woth Vodafone any day. They had a good support.

We have been using Vodafone Broadband since October 2022 using the CityFibre set-up: we opted for the 100mbps package with landline phone, which cost us less than half what we had been paying another company. It has been very reliable, and on speed tests, we're not quite getting 100mbps, but in the region of 60-80 which is fine for our needs. (2 of us in the house both on computers or other devices.) Upload speeds are phenomenal compared with our former provider - around 70 mbps. The initial installation involved digging a small trench from the road and making a hole in the wall, but with pretty minimal disruption. The one thing the installing engineers didn't do was re-set the landline: they hadn't explained that it now had to be plugged into the router: I only found this out by using Vodafone's online chat service. And this meant re-siting the main the main phone in the house to a somewhat less convenient location. I suppose we could have asked them back to make a tidier job of it, but it works!
