Community Fibre is a London-based broadband provider that’s made a name for itself by offering some of the fastest and most affordable full-fibre connections in the UK. As its name suggests, Community Fibre focuses on connecting communities across London and the surrounding areas, with a network built entirely from scratch using full-fibre technology. It’s one of the largest independent broadband providers in the capital and continues to expand rapidly into nearby towns.

Additional Comments

Unlike many of the big-name ISPs, Community Fibre doesn’t rely on Openreach. Its network is 100% its own, running fibre directly into customers’ homes and businesses (FTTP). This means it can deliver consistently high speeds with none of the bottlenecks caused by older copper lines. The result is a faster, more reliable connection that’s built for modern online life.

In terms of performance, Community Fibre is one of the best around. Its packages start at around 150 Mbps and go all the way up to an incredible 3,000 Mbps (3 Gbps). All plans offer symmetrical speeds, meaning uploads are just as fast as downloads, which is ideal for anyone working from home, gaming online, or regularly sharing large files. Even at peak times, the network tends to hold up fairly well thanks to its full-fibre design.

Community Fibre’s network mainly serves London and parts of the South East, so it’s not yet an option for those living elsewhere in the UK. Installation can also take a little time in some apartment buildings where landlord permissions or access need to be arranged, though the company usually handles this process efficiently.

As a localised fibre to the home supplier they have a fairly simple service to provide but Community Fibre do this well. They have a range of different packages (which seem to change pricing and availability very frequently) which offer a choice of symmetrical speeds. My experience is that the service works well and the installers are excellent. The supplied equipment is primarily WiFi focussed as you only get one LAN port (although you can add your own equipment to increase that if you need more cabled connections) They have a phone service but it is a bit of an afterthought and has an add on box for a phone to plug into. All in all, particularly if for you telephony is a mobile phone, a good offer if you can get it.

Changed to Community Fibre 20 April 2022. Fitting was ok but fitters not very tidy as didn't clean up dust from drilling, left numerous bits of cut cable ties and packaging behind. Got their phone package. The fitters never explained how the connection needed to be dealt with after the number was ported. Luckily I had spare connectors and managed to reconnect all the sockets once ported. Speeds very good. Promised 200 Mbs and get 209 on Wifi! Linsky router seems ok.

Why do you list this provider for my postcode (Norwich) when it is only available in London?

Now that it has been running for a few months, thought it time to give some feed back: was not pleased at first due to receiving the Linksys Velop which only has 1 LAN port, so attached that to Sam Knows White Box, which somehow caused disconnections to the Main Computer upstairs, managed to work out that this was the problem after contacting CF helpdesk, so bought another switch [TP-Link SG108] to go in between Velop and SKWB and connected everything else via the switch and since then no more problems. Well pleased with the faultless connection and speed...CF and Sam Knows were both advised of the apparent incompatibility of using the White Box as a switch.

The Installation was quite quick and the set up fairly easy, I did have a couple of problems due to the equipment I was using, but this was soon sorted out once I found out what the problem was. This was a Council run installation so didn't cost me a penny, and the monthly cost for the first year is good.
