Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. Having recently switched to BT Full Fibre 900, I am getting "Speedtest" results over Wi-Fi of 340 Mbps down and 118 Mbps up. Truly starting speeds :)

Service since I signed up has been patchy with speeds 1 month running above the minimum service speed and the next below par. I the last few days however speeds have increased above anything previously achieved in the last 13 months (now getting speeds nearing maximum 138Mbps), which is perhaps because they are in the process of wiring up the area for full FTTP.

Download and upload speeds are as per the deal. The cost is too high, and BT Sport is seriously too expensive now, as its coverage is not what it was (particularly for cricket). But the problem is my router is denying internet access to my laptop. It just dies for a period, and comes back. It does this a lot. The connection is wired, not wifi, through a hub direct to the router, so only two cables. I suspect the router of becoming unstable, as other internet services do not seem to be a problem. I might just move supplier...

BT Support is absolutely awful. Agent did not even know what a Homeplug was!! Replaced 3 hubs and even the Smart hub 2 was weak on WiFi. Changed over to NowTV at half the price for exactly the same service AND "free" landline calls too. NowTV support was quick to answer the phone and knowledgeable.

I only used BT so I could get my line fixed, as Openreach would not do anything other than test and tell me there was an issue while I was a Sky customer. This worked as I went from average of 9 meg to 16 meg with the change. Once the 12 months was over I changed to a more affordable supplier. No monopoly issue at all.........
