Additional Comments

The company offers a full range of broadband services, from standard fibre (FTTC) to full-fibre (FTTP) packages that deliver ultrafast speeds. BT’s newer Full Fibre plans provide a direct fibre connection to your home, giving download speeds up to 900 Mbps and upload speeds up to 110 Mbps. These are ideal for larger households, home offices, or anyone who regularly streams, games, or downloads large files. Even the standard fibre plans offer decent performance, with average speeds ranging from 36 Mbps to 74 Mbps.

One of BT’s key strengths is reliability. Its network is well-established and regularly maintained, with nationwide customer support available 24/7. The Smart Hub 2 router that comes with BT’s packages is designed to deliver strong Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add Wi-Fi discs to eliminate dead spots if needed. BT also includes access to a huge network of public Wi-Fi hotspots across the UK, which can be useful when you’re on the move.

Customer service has improved in recent years, with BT now offering UK and Ireland-based call centres and online chat support. The MyBT app also makes it easy to check your connection status, run speed tests, or manage your account.

Overall, BT is a safe and dependable choice for broadband. It offers wide availability, strong performance, and a good balance of speed and service. While it might not be the cheapest option, BT’s experience, reliability, and extras make it a solid pick for households that want a well-supported, nationwide provider they can count on. I have been a BT Internet customer for more years than I care to remember and, in that time, have lived in five different properties, from Essex, to Worcestershire and now Somerset. With each move I have stayed loyal to BT and, to be fair, for the most part have been completely satisfied - until our fifth move that is! We now live in a converted barn in rural Somerset, about a mile from the nearest town, Wiveliscombe (approximately 12 miles from Taunton) and to say the service here is "problematic" is being generous in the extreme. While EE/BT are currently advertising "speeds up to 1.6GB" we are on a lowly 20Mb down and (if we are very lucky) 2Mb up. We suffer from regular dropouts and I cannot tell you how many times I have had to reboot the router to get things back up and running. Again to be fair, BT have tried to put things right but I understand from the last engineer who came to try and sort the problem that the (telegraph pole) cabling here is simply not up to the job and there are too many people trying to use the same line. I guess, if I had lived here all my life, I'd know no different but having come from a property just 80 yards from the FFTC cabinet, it is like going back to the stone age and I now understand why many "rural dwellers" feel ignored by the big telecoms companies, who appear to be only interested in making a profit and are not prepared to spend the money to give us a decent service. One last point... Did BT give me a price reduction when I moved here, to compensate for the massive downgrading of my service? I think you can guess the answer to that!!

Down load speeds seem OK but vary and only occasionally system drops out, or appears too.

Speed reliable; Hub 2 has good WiFi range; too expensive though & I will ditch & switch when my contract ends.

Everything works - except the price! Should really change providers but keep paying their price. No excuse , my fault. Ditch them?

BT took my broadband (G.Fast) down so often, I kept a record of it. Its mean time between failures came out at about 7 days. That was was when the interruptions were in the middle of the night (mostly). I tried to complain, but it is hard to find a person. So I gave up. Recently, the failures have been during the day, and for hours at a time. Their on-line system (now bookmarked) allows you to announce the failure and tells you when they acknowledge it exists and gives an ETA for the fix, so it could be worse. I surmise that this is because of the transfer to digital calling (shut down of POTS), which is on-going in this area. I can't believe I am paying £70/month this kind of service. In a tiny village miles from nowhere in southern Italy, our full FTTP service has never failed to our knowledge. It costs €24/month.

Disappointed that after renewing my Halo 3 contract the speed immediately reduced from 72mbs to 60mbs. It may still be in spec but unacceptable.
