Ofcom extends deadline for response on Datastream margin squeeze

Ofcom has issued an update informing stakeholders that the deadline
for responses to its ‘Consultation on a Draft Direction Setting the Margin between IPStream and ATM Interconnection Prices’ has extended from 28th June 2004 to the 12th July 2004.

The deadline extension is the result of demand from stakeholders. The response period is to allow interested parties to study the Ofcom recommendations, and raise any objections or suggestions of
their own. The original draft document was published on 27th May 2004, the date that BT announced its £1 price cut in the monthly port fees for a Datastream connection.

It will be interesting to eventually find out if the BT price cut was enough to assuage its competitors that the margin between IPStream and Datastream products is sufficient.
