Update for Torpoint, Cornwall

The Torpoint exchange in Cornwall reached its trigger level of 500 registrations back in mid-July this year
but users are still waiting a ready-for-service date. The delays (relative to other exchanges) have been caused as a result of the additional time needed to gain wayleave permissions required to
run additional cabling to the exchange to support its enabling for broadband.

“The Department for Transport are processing the wayleave application for the subsea section of cable. We are hoping this can be resolved quickly so we can begin work
of laying this section of cable and confirm a ready for service date for Torpoint as soon as possible.”

BT also confirm that the bulk of the remaining work at the exchange has already been carried out and wayleave permission has already been secured for the remaining cabling from the landowner so
Torpoint users should have to wait no longer than absolutely necessary once permission for the subsea section of cable is granted. [seb]
