Ofcom fines another porn site for not having age verification

Ofcom Logo

Ofcom has announced that another company has been fined under the Online Safety Act 2023 for failing to protect children from accessing pornographic content. First Time Videos LLC operates two websites that have been found to be in breach.

“Ofcom has determined that First Time Videos has failed to comply with section 81 of the Act. Section 81 imposes a duty on providers of services that fall under Part 5 of the Act to ensure, through the use of highly effective age verification or age estimation (or both), that children are not normally able to encounter content that is regulated provider pornographic content.”

Ofcom Statement

A penalty of £80,000 has been determined for this failure, taking into account the size and the turnover of the service to ensure that it is proportionate.

“Age checks are not optional, and are a cornerstone of our laws to protect children from harmful content, including pornography. We want to send a clear message to the industry that any company which fails to comply can expect to face similar enforcement action.”

George Lusty, Director of Enforcement, Ofcom

Ofcom has also advised that in another investigation, it has found that the provider of a site has failed to comply, and it’s also expanding its investigation into Sun Social Media Inc.

  1. Yet another complete and utter waste of time, money and manpower by incompetent Ofcom. First Time Videos LLC is based in Nevada USA, Ofcom has no ability to impose and expect payment of any fine over a company not based in the UK. Why are they spending so much time and effort chasing things they have no authority over. First Time Videos LLC dose not even have any servers based in the UK. This has happened so many times now that i can only see it as “virtue” signalling by Ofcom. God help us all when they are purposed with the social media bans for kids next year.
