Over 760,000 residents in 434 towns and villages now have access to 5G Standalone (5GSA) after Virgin Media O2 enabled access to their 5G+ service. Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe, Lowestoft, Haverhill, Sudbury and Newmarket all have access to faster mobile services from O2 now. The company claim that they offer the largest 5GSA network in the UK, covering more than 85% of the UK population.
“Our new 5G+ network is now live in Suffolk, providing an impressive upgrade for local people and businesses and creating new opportunities in and around the county.
Combined with investment as part of our Mobile Transformation Plan, we’re improving our mobile network every day to deliver a faster, more reliable experience for customers, futureproof connectivity and pave the way for future innovations.”
Professor Robert Joyce, Director of Mobile Access Engineering, O2
When enabled, O2 say that the counties, towns and villages in the 5G+ programme have at least 90% 5GSA outdoor coverage.
