In the less than two years since the One Touch Switching platform started handling migrations it has seen 3 million switches completed.
In May 2026 alone there was 147,894 switches completed. While the average match rate for matching someone to the right provider when an switch is started is still fairly low at 62.93% in May 2026 and fluctuates around that point in other months TOTSCo is saying they continue to work on the matching. One of the problems with the OTS is that the initial match is based on what the customer tells the gaining provider, and with acquisitions and consumers being moved in bulk to a different retailer identifying the correct broadband provider can prove challenging. Add to this things such as difficulties matching addresses we would be surprised if the initial match rate can be improved to above 70%.
TOTSCo was formed a not-for-profit company in June 2022 and is expanding from residential broadband switching to encompass business broadband switching too.
Tech Mahindra are the firm that designed and built the messaging gateway that is the One Touch Switching system.
One Touch Switching was designed to reduce the friction for the public when switching between the many different broadband networks that now operate in the UK. The problems that generally arise revolve around the old broadband provider claiming to have not received the message ‘your customer is not live with a new ISP stop billing’. Another issue can be where all the data checks pass, but the actual customer has not initiated the switch, and the customers existing provider is struggling to get a switch cancelled.
Not sure what there is to celebrate to be honest, it is not as if most people have a choice but to use it.
