Derbyshire Project Gigabit contract expanded

Logo for the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT)

Connect Fibre was awarded the Project Gigabit contract for Derbyshire back in 2023, and the contract has just been modified to increase the number of premises covered and due to see Gigabit broadband (i.e. full fibre) delivered.

The new contract sees an increase in the value by £1,577,558 to £35,011,555 and covering an additional 790 premises. The total number of premises in the scope of the contract is now 18,651.

The most recent progress update from DSIT indicated 1,200 premises had been delivered with subsidy as part of the contract. The contract area and Connect Fibre footprint is on our broadband maps.

The contract has an end date of 28th February 2035, but the last 7 years of that includes monitoring and clawback period. The end date may change as it seems to be a set 7 year period dependant on the date when the Stage One rollout has been completed.
