O2 improves network coverage in Coventry

O2 Logo

O2 has announced that it has completed work to boost network capacity and coverage in over 2,000 postcodes in the Coventry area. These upgrades are part of O2’s “Mobile Transformation Plan”, where it is investing £700m this year to help future-proof its mobile network.

This upgrade work includes expanding 4G and 5G coverage, installing dedicated small cells to boost capacity in dense urban areas and innovative solutions to address “network pain points” on transport routes such as railway lines, motorways, in airports and stadiums.

“With customers using more data than ever before, the improvements we’ve made at over 2,000 postcodes in Coventry will ensure local people and businesses can access reliable connectivity that is so essential in powering our customers’ digital lifestyles. As part of our Mobile Transformation Plan, we are continuing to invest in our network with future upgrades planned to ensure that we can continue to support our customers both now and in future.”

Dr Robert Joyce, Director of Mobile Access Engineering, O2

Network and coverage investments are always welcome, and alongside the £1.3 billion that the now merged VodafoneThree is investing, we should hopefully see some improvements to 4G and 5G coverage around the country.
