Its taken 30 days, but another point of coverage has been added to the UK full-fibre footprint.

Time for our monthly summary of where the various nations and regions of the UK stand with regard to the full-fibre roll-outs. One observation to share is that while we are busier than ever tracking down the many FTTP footprints the overall roll-out pace does now seem to be slowing down.

Full-fibre can beat DSL broadband technologies on latency but when connections are busy things like gaming can still see lag make gaming annoying. A new Internet standard called L4S is set to change all that.

Take-up is underway for the Wessex Internet Project Gigabit contract covering parts of the New Forest as the first live customer has been announced.

The two Ofcom market areas where Area 2 is broadly the urban parts of the UK and Area 3 is rural UK both still have decent amounts of full-fibre appearing.

The full-fibre roll-outs and the use of poles in areas that otherwise had underground infrastructure previously is becoming an issue so we are looking at a street with three different broadband options and poles.

The Gigabit broadband vouchers are worth up to £4,500 for homes and business premises in selected parts of England. The scheme was due run out in March 2025, but it has now been extended.

Another few hundred thousand premises can now get full-fibre taking the UK 64.01% full-fibre coverage. This latest point of coverage has taken 27 days to be found and analysed.

The pace at which the full-fibre counter is increasing has slow down a bit but still lots of full-fibre being rolled out, unfortunately as footprints get larger we see more overlap happening.
