Additional Comments

What Plusnet broadband does well is value for money and simplicity. Many users highlight that the setup is straightforward, the pricing at the start is competitive, and the support lines are based in the UK. Reviews usually point to a good value service and comments about fair pricing and staff who are easy to contact and happy to help when things go well.
With that said, there are some recurring complaints. Reliability scores for Plusnet broadband are lower than some of its competitors. Some reviewers note that while customer service is not bad, the reliability can be a bit weaker. Looking through customer comments online you will find examples of slow average speeds, connection dropouts and occasionally, unhelpful support when things do go wrong.

Another factor to check is what happens after your contract ends. Some users report price rises or less favourable renewal deals. If you are signing up, it is worth checking the terms for renewal and any speed guarantees.

Much of Plusnet’s fibre broadband uses the same networks as other major providers via BT and Openreach. That means the physical network is solid, but your actual experience may depend a lot on your local cabinet, wiring and router.

If you are considering Plusnet broadband you should ask yourself a few questions. Is your property eligible for the speed you need? Are you comfortable with the contract term and the likelihood of a price increase after the first term? Do you have a suitable Wi Fi setup in your home so that you get the speeds you pay for, not just what the line can support? When it works well, Plusnet broadband can be a good choice for everyday users, streaming, browsing, online work and casual gaming. It ticks the reliable box for many. But if you live in a large home, do a lot of heavy uploads or downloads or need ultra high performance with complete peace of mind, you may want to check what extras are needed such as a better router or mesh network, or compare other providers with higher reliability ratings.

let down by openreach long time in village with landline problems now sorted but found better broadband through 4G as mast is close and fibre cabinet too far away to compete

I don't know why so many people whinge about Plusnet services, when their problems are clearly down to maintenance and management of the fibre and copper network - which belongs to BT Openreach. Plusnet's customer service lines work very well. If you can't get through on the phone, then log a ticket on line and you can get on with life, keeping your blood pressure down, while they answer. They share all the results of tests on your ticket, so you can soon filter out bullsh17. Don't shoot the piano player, shoot the monkey.

They are so poor I've decided to leave them next week. They have never managed to ensure that their so-called guaranteed minimum speed is achieved at any time. The guarantee is not worth the paper it's not printed on!

I previously left Plusnet because of extremely low upload speeds which were causing download problems despite a good downspeed on the speed check. The Plusnet service was good but I was aggravated by Openreach who were thoroughly useless and resulted in me leaving Plusnet. I returned to Plusnet due to other problems with a new ISP that again Openreach was thoroughly useless resolving and am pleased that the upload problem had now been fixed in the interval between. Both Telephone Line and Broadband are currently nicely reliable!

plusnet has become dire I was happy with plusnet for a long time but now my speed has dropped by 20mb they cannot suggest reasons why only said remove the faceplate off the master socket place a filter in socket an leave alone for 10 days not even a offer to do dlm reset to see what happens...I think I'll be a less than interested in re contract

Good price but beware: you cannot get both the plusnet sign on bonus and eg Quidco bonus. It’s one or the other. Modem/router very average: swap to BT Business Hub or Home Hub 6 for better coverage and - on BH6 - ability to select eg OpenDNS nameservers.

The system is creaking under strain. We get constant drop-outs and although we get a reasonable speed for a rural area the bandwidth is terrible, BT Openreach who own Plusnet are to blame, their equipment is unable to cope with the demands placed on the infrastructure since lockdown created more home working and schooling. Only yesterday we lost connection totally three times in an evening - try watching Netflix with that kind of service. The staff try (when you can get to speak with them) and take you through the same routines to test the line but things don't improve.
