The last month set a new record for the amount of Openreach FTTP found and added to our records and the Fibre First programme has broken the 2 million premises passed mark.

With the direction of regulation now certain Openreach is tweaking the pricing of its GEA-FTTP and SOGEA services as it works towards scaling up to go from 4.5 million to 20 million FTTP premises in the next 7 years.

The Openreach full fibre roll-out is the fastest of the full fibre roll-outs in the UK and Peebles is just one small part of the much larger roll-out.

The goal was to build 4.5 million premises with FTTP available to them by the end of March 2021 and Openreach has declared that it has reached that figure.

Our tracking of the Openreach FTTP roll-out in the last month has almost set a new record for the amount found in a month. If February was not the shortest month of the year we would have set a new record.

The vast majority of the FTTP roll-out happening today in Northern Ireland is commercial and in the towns and cities, so a community project bring FTTP to some slow locations is fairly unusual.

Mountwood exchange has been on the list of Fibre First exchanges for a while and at last is seeing chunks of the area go live for Openreach FTTP.

The majority of properties that were stuck with ADSL2+ from cabinet 2 on the Great Bentley exchange now have access to FTTP.

Another month has passed and another 145,546 premises are passed by Openreach FTTP. This is the lowest monthly total found since our 12th July 2020 update.

The stop sell for copper voice and broadband services in Salisbury over the Openreach network has started.
