CityFibre Vodafone Gigafast roll-out passes 250,000 premises

CityFibre and its Gigabit city roll-out has an aim of 1 million premises passed in 2021 and today our tracking of where the Vodafone Gigafast service is available to order has hit 250,933 premises.

The cities on our maps so far are Aberdeen, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Coventry, Edinburgh, Huddersfield, Leeds, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Peterborough, Southend and Stirling. There are more cities where construction is underway but as yet we've seen any live properties.

The 250,933 excludes the TalkTalk FibreNation footprint which was acquired by CityFibre, we track those figures seperately for the build that is underway in York and Dewsbury. The FibreNation footprint we know about is 48,733 premises big.

In terms of whether the 1 million will be reached if a build rate of 10,000 premises a week is needed going forward, which with the growing number of areas under construction seems possible, i.e. as has been seen with the various FTTP roll-outs it takes time to scale to deliver in volume.

As is always the case the roll-outs start pretty small in each area, so if you have the Gigafast service or have ordered it and the install is booked but you are not showing on our map get in touch with a postcode and we will take a look and update our databases and maps.

I've been keeping an eye on your map for Aberdeen, coverage growing well there, dwarfs the Openreach presence but its a massive task they'll be at it for some time.

Should see large % take up I'd think also given there's no major competition in there from OR and no Virgin if the pricing can drag people off FTTC.

The build rate doesn't specify a time period (e.g. per week or per month). By my reckoning, to reach 1m by end of 2021, starting at 251k now and with 66 weeks to go, requires a build rate of about 11,350 per week.

It was per week, had a fence panel delivery while writing the original which probably led to me not spotting the missing words.

You mean you have time for normal things Andrew?
Anyway, Cityfibre have been storming along here in Northampton, theyve done with south and have moved into town center and off west/n west. They seem slow to activate to live status though. Had mine done few days ago, impressive speeds, seeing 900Mbps upload is just insane.

How long does it typically take to go live after the fibre's been laid? My area was just about completed about a month ago, and we are between live areas and the town centre so hopefully not too long.

Can't find any schedules, just a VF Gigafast postcode form that kicks you off if you're not supported.
