TalkTalk ADSL2+ now same price as entry level fibre service

The price for new customers joining TalkTalk on ADSL2+ has just increased from £21.50/m to £22.95/m on an 18 month contract, which now matches the Faster Fibre service at £22.95/m.

The pricing out today runs until 5th August 2020, prices are fixed for the 18 month minimum contract term.

  • TalkTalk ADSL2+ average download speed 11 Mbps £22.95/m for 18 months, then £30/m. No setup fee.
  • TalkTalk Faster Fibre average download speed 38 Mbps £22.95/m for 18 months, then £29.95/m. No setup fee
  • TalkTalk Superfast Fibre average download speed 67 Mbps £25.95/m for 18 months. No setup fee.

The two fibre products are usually based on the two VDSL2 40/10 and 80/20 products. Now that the ADSL2+ is aligned price wise with the Faster Fibre product we believe that the FTTP launch i.e. selling Openreach FTTP products is not very far off.

That is one way to get people to change to the hybrid fibre system, unless they can't, and then they lose a customer as the customer will go elsewhere. Surly a customer on ADSL is still a customer.

Come on TBB I know you said usually based on VDSL, but lets not pander to the ASA and the ISPs, Neither of these products are Fibre broadband.

Talk talk ADSL2+ IS NOT the same price as entry level fibre Broadband.

went to have a look at Actual fibre pricing on talk talk and at least that gave me a laugh, so Fibre broadband using actual fibre for broadband is 'Future Fibre' /facepalm.

I'd humbly suggest a headline change to,

TalkTalk ADSL2+ now same price as FTTC service.

They might want to blur the lines and muddy the waters but you should not.

Well I signed up to TalkTalk Superfast FTTC 80/20 for £21.95 in February this year but on 24 month contract. Maybe it was naive of me to accept the 24 month contract, but I thought with this cheap deal I can't go really wrong as I know it is highly unlikely that I will get FTTP in the next 2 years given the fact that my cabinet only went live in October 2019 here in E1 London, previously EO Line.

Shortly after I signed up TalkTalk increased their prices. At that time TalkTalk & Vodafone FTTC were the cheapest offers. But I couldn't sign up with Vodafone due to their credit check failure.
