1 in 5 properties in Corby now have an FTTP option

We are adding a few thousand premises of Openreach FTTP to our checker system everyday but it is usually scattered all over the UK. The biggest chunk in a single location this week has been a lot of the relatively new build area of Corby on the Great Oakley exchange.

These roads where FTTP is now available pushed Corby district from 1.4% Openreach FTTP coverage to 11.2% and once combined with the other providers such as OFNL means 21.4% of the district council area properties now have the ability to order a full fibre service.

During the lockdown Openreach is not installing FTTP services for providers apart from in a few limited cases for key workers and following appropriate social distancing guidelines. This means ordering the service today for those wanting some extra speed or to escape the pain of the odd VDSL2 resync will probably not be possible. Waiting for a few weeks though will hopefully see providers such as Sky, TalkTalk and Vodafone potentially starting to take orders.

The highest zoom layer on the map is still rendering and will be updated later on 1st May, so if you are curious as to exactly which are the new postcodes head over to the map linked to under the image.

It is impossible to be watching every corner of the UK all the time, so you know of a similar sized chunk of FTTP that is actually live and ready for people to order a service on then do point us in the right direction with an email and one postcode to start us off.

All very well but living in Corby is a heavy price to pay.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry... I'm right under one of those grey spots, the OpenReach website says I can get it but when I go to BT (my current provider) they say 'no'!

Worse that Virgin dug up my street 2 years ago to lay cable yet THAT is also still unavailable.

@abailey I'd suggest a little patience. Few new installs are being carried out at present for obvious reasons where entry to the customer's property is required as is necessary for a new FTTP service.

A number of retail providers at this time have stopped selling the FTTP service as getting installs is basically impossible until orders start again on 1st June.
