Having problems with Virgin Media website you are not alone - fixed

Update Friday 10:15am We have been told the issue is now fixed. Original news article below.

While the Virgin Media broadband speeds have been holding up well it seems the Virgin Media website has not (no link so we don't add to the load). Reports of problems for a couple of days have appeared, but as short periods of problems in the past are not unusual we were just expecting these to be similar glitches.

Affiliate sites listing Virgin Media products have been asked to pause promotion, but we won't be removing the VIrgin Media products as there are too many to de-list and re-create when the expectation at this time is the website should be running again on Saturday - fingers crossed.

The issue is that people are not able to get to the final checkout, which is likely to affect new customers and existing customers added extra things to their existing account.

Their speeds might be holding up, but look at the latency:

I can still download & stream but can't work from home because the latency prevents me from using any form of remote desktop. Virgin say this is due to congestion due to increased load and there is nothing they can do about it.

Speaking to many other colleagues in the IT industry it seems I am not the only one with this issue and Virgin aren't the only culprit.
Maybe increase of video conf an issue due to QoS?

I'm also seeing the same latency issues are davidc01

All of their support is down on their website their phone support has wait times of 1 hour+. Their phone support even tried to claim that the issue was at my end and would require them to charge me to fix.

Their service is oversaturated

I ordered a 6db attenuators off Amazon. Installed it and now I’m as stable as a mountain.
I was totally fed up of the drop outs and decided to act myself.
