The Sky Wi-Fi boost from £5 a month aims to deliver a strong Wi-Fi signal without interruptions in every room of your home. The £5 means they will send someone around to optimise the signal to achieve meet the guarantee e.g. repositioning of router and/or additional Wi-Fi boosters. If unable to meet the guarantee which is 3 Mbps in every room then you will get your money back.

WiFi Guarantee reflects Sky’s commitment to innovation and technology that matches our customers’ evolving connectivity needs.

The need for fast and reliable broadband that reaches every room is more important than ever before – but as you can’t physically see your WiFi signal, it can be difficult for most people to understand what makes it stronger or weaker. Our WiFi Guarantee, combined with the new Sky Hub, genuinely guarantees a strong signal in every room of the house – strong enough to stream movies and TV from Sky Go and Netflix – or your money back.

Aman Bhatti, Head of Propositions, Sky

The Wi-Fi boost has the new Sky Hub (SR-203) at the centre which has eight different Wi-Fi antenna and supports, ADSL2+, VDSL2, G.fast and FTTP connections.

The service launches on 6th September so will be available to ADSL2+ and VDSL2 customers, the G.fast ultrafast service is still only collecting registrations (when we checked on 4th September).

WiFi Guarantee: How it works:

  1. Test your WiFi router speeds via Sky’s online checker or through My Sky app
  2. If your WiFi isn’t performing as well as it should, Sky will launch an investigation and send a booster to help improve signal
  3. If it still isn’t performing, you’ll get a home visit from a Sky Engineer to optimise the signal in every room. Sky Boost customers will have access to evening and weekend appointments as part of the service, so they don’t have to wait in or take time out of the working week to have their WiFi enhanced
  4. If you still aren’t receiving signal in every room – we’ll refund your Boost upgrade for the remaining time in your contract

The 3 Mbps speed of the guarantee is described by Sky as sufficient for streaming via Sky Go, Netflix or NOW TV. The refund if they cannot deliver the guarantee is the full amount paid for the Boost since the start of the contract and the fee is waived fro the remainder of the contract.

I have standard broadband, with the aide of Tp Link boosters I can get WiFi in my 3 storey property. It's not brilliant for watching movies etc over the last few years my signal keeps dropping. I can test my WiFi through Sky's app etc, it always comes up good but never shows my signal dropping. So Sky will say our commitment to you is being honoured. I've changed channels as suggested moved my router ( not sure why as faults only recently developed ) but still the problem exists. Do I need to buy fibre now?
