Another 14 exchanges with partial fibre service availability

The Openreach footprint has increased to 1,827,061 premises where the 120 Mbps and faster service is available to order. This is a big jump from the 1,760,072 figure of two weeks ago and is down to the 14 new exchange areas and completing our checks on the exchanges we indicated we had not finished two weeks ago.

The latest exchange areas:

  • Alton
  • Copull
  • Downend
  • Farnworth
  • Fawley
  • Gateshead
  • Hindley
  • Leamore
  • Low Moor
  • Monifieth
  • Possil
  • Wells
  • Wendover

The other key figures from our tracking of the roll-out are: if you ignore the requirement for to deliver 120 Mbps the cabinets with live pods cover some 3,028,121 premises and this is using 7,584 pods across 476 exchanges.

@lockyatirg As is your post which totally ignores those who benefit from increased speeds thanks to having chosen to have a G-fast connection.

Interestingly they still haven't activated several pods installed around Aberdeen over a year ago.

I thought that given the rapid build rate CityFibre have in Aberdeen that Openreach would be desperate to get G.Fast live ASAP to avoid losing a lot of custom to Vodafone/CityFibre

@MCM999 and those who can't benefit from it - stuff them?

Many things are not available to 100% of the UK population but that does not make them pointless. Nor does it make any sense to freeze progress until something is universally available given many products and services do not make economic sense to deploy to every location, even with significant subsidy.
