Andrew Ferguson awarded an OBE in Queen's Birthday Honours List

We are very pleased to report that Andrew Ferguson, editor of thinkbroadband, has been awarded an OBE for services to the economy and broadband in the Queen's Birthday Honours list published today.

Andrew has been instrumental in our thinkbroadband labs local project to map broadband availability, take-up and produce statistics at national, regional and local levels. This has allowed us to provide insight into how the broadband landscape is evolving across the UK, and help councils, companies and individuals measure and track progress. Since then he has taken a wide role across our services and content.

Andrew joined us as a contributor in the early days in 2000 when broadband (or ADSL as it was back then for those without a Cable service) was just starting to be talked about. He was a volunteer for many years until joining us as a full time staff member and is one of the most recognised broadband industry commentators.

Well deserved Andrew.

Your ability, patience and tolerance to 'Go Beyond' to help educate the uninitiated, like me, in addition to the day job; which, by the amount of data you provide to the public, must well exceed the hours paid for anyway!

Congratulations.

And I think that I can speak for many on the TBB forum/s and say a big "thank you" for also taking the time to help us out personally with our problems / issues.

A big thank you for all the thanks.

The work looking at the coverage and analysis of speed tests will continue especially as the race to more full fibre accelerates and the need for fact checking will continue.

Am aware there is not as many news items as I used to push out, but that is simply because the time is being used up on tracking down the coverage and updating everything.

Back to the updates - and its new build premises time for June and July.
