CityFibre announces first residents are live on Gigafast network
We got mildly excited when we added the second area of Stirling to our package search and maps six days ago and have also seen the first speed test on the Vodafone Gigafast service in the area. WIth a third area spotted as live we can enjoy that mild excitement again.
CityFibre as part of its PR push to get more people buying the service from Vodafone has now announced the first customers are officially live on the network and that build work is almost completed in the Cambusbarron, Broomridge, Bannockburn and Braehead areas of Stirling.
We can find the premises passed in the Cambusbarron, Broomridge and Braehead areas, so hopefully Bannockburn will appear in the next few days.
CityFibre are saying the network should reach almost every home in Stirling and Bridge of Allan once finished, with completion expected in 2020.
As things stand on 16th May full fibre coverage of Stirling is at 7.7% of premises. Looking at other areas where we can see the Gigafast network Milton Keynes is leading the charge with 33.8% FTTP coverage then Peterborough 19.4%, Coventry 12.9% and Aberdeen 6.8% - these figures cover all FTTP operators. The total number of premises passed by the network stands at 47,987 an increase of 2,700 in the last seven days.
