Free tech gift worth up to £179 and reward cards on some BT broadband packages

Every now and then the BT broadband offers conspire to make signing up very attractive and the latest offers that add a choice from a Samsung Tablet A 10.1 (worth £179), a Fitbit Charge 3 (worth £129) or an Amazon Echo (worth £89) as free gift in addition to a BT Reward Card with values of £80, £120 and £130 depending on the service you sign up to. Reward and gift offer is set to end on 14th March 2019.

  • BT Superfast Fibre Unlimited, £80 BT Reward Card + free tech gift, £29.99/m and £9.99 upfront cost on an 18 month contract. After 18 months the monthly cost rises to £52.49/m. Average download speeds of 50 Mbps.
  • BT Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited £120 BT Reward Card + free tech gift, £39.99/m and £9.99 upfront cost on an 18 month contract. Price after 18 months is £58.99/m. Average download speeds of 67 Mbps.

The BT Reward Cards and the free gift need to be claimed, so don't forget if you do sign up and the reward card is delivered as a PrePaid MasterCard loaded with the appropriate value.

The two superfast options include a promise of no broadband price rises in 2019 and for another £10/m you can add the Complete Wi-Fi option, which gives a guarantee of Wi-Fi coverage throughout the home, initially you get one disc but if more are needed you can request an additional two to form a mesh network and cover the blind spots in your home.

The Superfast services for the majority are delivered over VDSL2, but are available for those in an FTTP area.

The ultrafast service options are either G.fast or FTTP based depending on what is available in your area, we presume that if you are in an area with both G.fast and FTTP (which applies to around 5,500 properties in the UK) the better option of FTTP will be delivered. Our previous links to these options missed out on the free gifts and have been updated so that once you complete the availability check you will see the various freebies.

  • BT Ultrafast Fibre Plus, £130 BT Reward Card + free tech gift, £49.99/m and £59.99 upfront cost on an 18 month contract. After 18 months standard price is £59.99/m. Average download speeds of 145 Mbps.
  • BT Ultrafast Fibre 2 Plus, £130 BT Reward Card + free tech gift, £59.99/m and £59.99 upfront cost on an 18 month contract. After 18 months standard price is £64.99/m. Average download speeds of 145 Mbps.

The Plus services feature a price guarantee for the 18 month contract period also if for some reason the service breaks a 4G mini hub will be posted to get you back up and running until the broadband can be fixed. The Ultrafast services carry a speed guarantee allowing you to claim £20 up to four times each year if speeds fall below 100 Mbps.

Obviously on all these services if you stay after the 18 month minimum term the price is going to go up and if you are happy and want to remain we advise contacting the provider to negotiate a better than standard price deal which are usually available for agreeing to another contract period. Alternatively shop around for a different service, i.e. hop between providers chasing the best deals every 12 or 18 months.

No one has paid for this article, which is a question often asked when we mention various packages in the news feed, but if people do sign up via one of the links we receive an affiliate commission. We don't cover every package price change we make each week, but pick and choose based on things like rewards or price point.

Figures, cheaper to give away money to gain customers, than build out to those who would gladly sign up, IF they had the option.
