More Fibre First full fibre found in Birmingham and Liverpool
The Fibre First roll-out continues with some 32 exchanges across the UK where people can now order full fibre from providers reselling the Openreach GEA-FTTP services and a good number of others expected to have areas live soon.
The latest four exchanges we have spotted are Sefton Park, Sheldon, Stoneycroft and Streetly and if the pattern of some other exchanges such as Swinton in Salford is followed we may quickly see a lot of each exchange area getting access to FTTP.
The Openreach footprint we know about is growing rapidly and as of 25th February stood at 820,153 premises, the pace at which we are finding both urban and rural coverage is reflected by us having just 788,084 premises in our system eight days ago. A year ago a good day for finding more FTTP was to add a 100-200 premises a day, rather than the 2000-3000 a day currently.
If the UK is to reach a combined footprint of 50% of UK premises in 2025 (i.e. combination from all FTTP operators) we need to be finding around 6000-7000 premises every day.
