From Horsham to Glasgow 6 more exchanges with Gfast

Continuing our steady stream of announcements of areas where we have spotted live pods and people can order an ultrafast broadband service we can tell you that the six exchanges Horsham, Littleport, Longford, Springburn, Tulse Hill and Wokingham collectively have 104 pods to give a UK wide total of 4656 pods.

The package search knows about the postcodes we believe are within range to receive a minimum speed of 100 Mbps but you need to check with your chosen provider for their more detailed estimate particularly as that will form part of your contract and speed guarantee if the provider has a guarantee scheme.

This takes the footprint to a total of 1,322,925 premises and interestingly some 408 cabinets that were originally delivered by the various BDUK projects also have a pod.

The number of pods we have spotted on each exchange is Horsham - 28, Littleport - 4, Longford - 22, Springburn - 20, Tulse Hill - 15 and Wokingham - 15, in the case of Wokingham 1 of the 15 was spotted some weeks ago and while it went into our maps and checker we don't announce the single cabinet deployments.

The broadband maps have been updated for both and FTTP this morning, but as the Longford pods were spotted late on Friday that little bit of the footprint will not appear on the map Sunday.

@thinkbroadband Gfast is spreading like a rash but just like a rash it'll provide only patchy coverage and be gone…

That maybe so, but for now,. it will provide a lot of households with UltraFast broadband.

End to end fibre has got to be the goal but will take several years to come to fruition.

There has been a number of G Fast cabinets enabled on the Market Harborough exchange too with at least another 8 due to go live in the next couple of months.

I supposed to be able to now get G.Fast in Ipswich based on the BT Wholesale checker, and various ISP checkers. Just need to wait another month for my contract and then I can switch over.

No mention on the ThinkBroadband maps about Ipswich having G.Fast.
