Q4 2018 UK broadband speed test analysis now available
Wednesday 2nd January 2019 may be the first day back at work for most poeple but we can already share the analysis from all the speed tests visitors to our speed test and speed test partners for October, November and December 2018.
The analysis on our statistics website allows you to see both the trend for the mean download speeds over time for all the main broadband technologies in the UK and split into nations, regions, local authorities and constituencies. Additional detail such as the split of the technologies seen in the last quarter along with the range of speeds and median average are also available.
A small change has been made to the table of 650 constituencies, previously this only showed the mean download and upload speeds, but the table has been expanded to include the bottom and top 20% speeds along with the median. This was done due to some constituencies where gigabit speeds are more widely available you can see the mean figures rapidly increasing due to the effect of full fibre speeds.
The future for 2019 is going to be interesting as the roll-outs of full fibre ramp up, we currently have a coverage level of 5.40% of UK premises and in Q4 2018 some 2.8% of all the tests we saw were identified as FTTP resulting in a mean download of 97.4 Mbps and upload 53.8 Mbps (median figures 66.8 Mbps and 19.5 Mbps).
