Giganet bringing Gigabit business broadband to Portsmouth with CityFibre

Portsmouth is the next city to join the CityFibre Gigabit City list. Giganet (M12 Solutions) is one of the two launch partners and aims to utilise the full fibre network to offer gigabit business services to some 1,500 business premises in easy reach of the existing fibre routes in the city with further expansion set to increase the number of businesses that will be within reach.

This gives us a genuine competitive advantage in the delivery of next generation Gigabit-capable fibre connectivity. What we couldn’t have anticipated is that there is now a government voucher scheme available to help cover all the installation costs up to £3,000. This means that small firms can now get a full fibre service with a sensible price tag. We’re expecting the pot of money allocated by the government will run out soon, so urge companies to take action quickly.

The PO postcode area has an existing 71km fibre network and Giganet will be able to confirm if a business is within reach of the existing network or will be waiting on the expansion. Pricing has a 500 Mbps option starting at £199/m and 1 Gbps from £299/m.

Giganet is not confirned to just Portsmouth, for businesses close to Basingstoke, Winchester and Salisbury, dedicated fibre leased lines are available from £295/m with free set up, if the full leased line experience is not needed there are other Gigabit capable options that start at £99/m.

The City of Portsmouth is already very well service by superfast and ultrafast services via Openreach and Virgin Media, so while expanding the CityFibre network is not going to have any real impact on the coverage figures it is giving an additional option for companies operating in the area particularly for those that have outgrown the standard services available and want better symmetry and service level agreements.
