BT SDSL service just a couple of weeks away
Well a trial service at least, the trial is due to start on 1st October 2002, as alluded to by The Register. ADSLGuide can go one step further and let you know which exchanges are taking part in the trial:Bermondsay | Clerkenwell | Covent Garden | Croydon |
Fleet | Gerrard Street | Holborn | Howland Street |
Kentish Town | Kingsland Green | Kingston | Mayfair |
North Paddington | Richmond, Surrey | Southwark | Sutton Cheam |
Thornton Heath | Tottenham | Wandsworth | Wimbledon |
During the initial part of the trial Fujitsu SHDSL capable DSLAMs will be deployed. Once the trial has shown that the system works well, a further 30 exchanges will enabled outside of London and these will be based around existing Fujitsu FDX DSLAMs.
It is worth noting that price wise it is not expected that SDSL/SHDSL will be priced attractively for home users. The service will be squarely aimed at the business sector.
