Add another 10 premises to number of UK homes passed by FTTP
Beverley in Yorkshire has for a while been a place to look at if you want to find fast broadband speeds due to the roll-out of superfast broadband by KC. Now a small cluster of properties in Bentley (on the A163 between Beverley and Hull) can now get a FTTP service as the roll-out continues and reaches some rural areas.
KC the local network operator now has its Lightstream service available to some 30,000 households across Hull and East Yorkshire. Lightstream is predominantly a FTTP based service, with some FTTC, i.e. the inverse of what Openreach is using across the rest of the UK. Currently they offer a variety of packages with the fastest being a 350 Mbps download, 20 Mbps upload service for £99 per month.
The properties in Bentley may only number ten, but with the first customer live picking a 75 Mbps service, speeds are set to increase dramatically, our maps show a previous speed of 1.96 Mbps for Bentley. Up the road in Beverley there are people clearly signed up to the fastest product with speed tests over 300 Mbps appearing.

I thought FTTPoD is 330 down and 30 up? Not 350/20
Ah, I can see KC offer 350 down and 20 up. Apology
Should point out that the Helston FTTP will NOT be FTTPoD but rather native FTTP.
Should also point out the proportion of KC's premises passed that are FTTP versus Openreach.
Either Hull is pretty incredibly special, super dense and incredibly conducive to FTTP or Openreach have been economising pretty hard to save that billion that appear unspent from the originally planned CapEx.

Link answers your questions, complete monopoly situation = ability to roll out, much like Jersey Telecom can.
It seems that the only supplier that can actually install and activate FTTP fibre in Helston at this time is BT.It is not available through Sky ,TalkTalk ,EE etc.
@webbedfeet - correct while the FTTP is available at 40/10 and 80/20 speeds as GEA-FTTP at the same price as GEA-FTTC the other big providers have not jumped on-board.
Every house/flat at the glasgow commonwealth games athletes village has FTTP installed for residents moving in after the games as well so that will be another 700!
Just for information a reasonable amount of properties in Helston, Cornwall had fttp made available to them over the last week or so..
