EE exceed 2 million 4G customers

EE has bridged the two million 4G customer mark, over twice the target the company had set for 2013. The company has seen the fastest sign-up rate for 4G services in the world, outside of South Korea. 1 million 4GEE customers were achieved in the first 10 months with the second million joining in just four further months.

"We're incredibly proud of being the first UK operator to bring 4G to the UK and, in just over a year, exceeding our target by reaching two million 4G customers across the country. We continue to have particular success converting our existing base to 4G, with approximately two out of three new 4G customers moving over from Orange and T-Mobile plans."

"This year, our network priority is to deliver the benefits of superfast mobile internet to more of the UK and invent even more innovative ways for our customers to make the most of their 4G experience."

Olaf Swantee, (CEO) Everything Everywhere

EE currently reach 160 towns and cities across the UK and their LTE coverage will exceed 70% of the population this month. EE also boast the claims of the fastest 4G network. Their average speeds are 12-15Mbps, but with 'double speed 4GEE', customers can get up to 60Mbps in 20 towns and cities. This speed boost is available at an added cost and the average speeds seen are 24-30Mbps.

I feel this says more about the state of 4G in this country than it says about EE themselves.

Meanwhile their 3G services seem to be complete rubbish, at least where I live. At night they make Dial Up look fast.

where I am 3 make EE look slow even when it's 3G vs 4G - I am sure 3's 4G will wipe the floor with them too.

Oh to get more than 8mbps on 4G is my target!

Have they got it working 100% yet?

It will be interesting to see if real rural areas will get the benefit of this new technology, I guess not due to cost, hills and mountains :P

In Norfolk, there is no 3G/4G in the suburbs let alone rural areas!

So we have 2 million confirmed idiots in our country...

@Jroadley Its no better here in rural West Sussex. We mainly get 2G with a fair few not spots thrown in. I'm not sure where they get their impressive coverage figures from?

Service is fast but their website is an utter disaster to try and do anything. As for being one of the 2 million 'idiots' as they now do PAYG I get it for very little more than my old T-mobile plan.

They've done a great job of converting users over to 4G mostly by throttling their 3G service to oblivion. That said, EE is still faster than Vodafone in my experience. Three still have the best network.

Blimey. 2 million people with way too much money. I bet only a small fraction of them actually need 4G speeds.

well EE do currently have more 4G coverage then other networks at the moment, saying its faster bit low at the moment as not many are using the 4G part at one location yet

cant even consider 3UK until they fix the issues with the DPI/TM injecting fake disconnect packets, (youtube having to press Retry to make the video start), all three need to do is slow the top 5% top data abusers down (o they all ready do that :) )

well in Norfolk you should be getting some 3G/4G coverage maybe with O2 as part of getting the 4G band as they have to cover most of the UK with it
