BT Sport may be coming to Virgin Media cable TV

Virgin Media cable TV customers may be about to lose access to ESPN, but they may be about to gain access to BT Sport if reports of negotiations being close to bearing fruit come true.

The old ESPN was included as part of a premium channel package, but with the standard BT Sport package costing £12/month for non BT Broadband customers (£15 for HD), some tough negotiating would be needed if the package was to be rolled in free.

One option might be that the top of the range VIP package will get free or reduced price access, this £99/month triple play package (+ £14.99 voice line rental) already includes Sky Sports and Sky Movies and the fastest residential broadband from Virgin Media and with the current sale at Virgin Media that has just two days left to run where the VIP bundle is just £49.50 per month for 12 months, maybe there is enough margin left for BT Sport.

Comments

Even if VM kept ESPN the rights for the Premiership football have already gone to BT Sports so VM customers would still miss out on that.
