Gigaclear partners with Fluidata to offer provider choice on network

One stumbling block for some people with the various fibre networks springing up across the UK is that some of them have the choice of a single provider, which after over a decade of wide choice in the various extras that can come with a broadband connection can feel restrictive to some people.

Gigaclear has found a solution, which is to exploit the service exchange platform operated by Fluidata. The ability to access many different physical networks via one common platform should encourage retail service providers who want to add value or cater to many varied needs people have, to sell a service over the Gigaclear full fibre network.

"Our service exchange platform interconnects ISPs so that they can offer services in new or hard-to-reach areas. This means more business for ISPs and better choice for customers. Gigaclear has ultrafast fibre networks so ISPs could offer new services to help business and residential customers get more from their broadband connection. The partnership will go live in the next few months."

Piers Daniell, managing director, Fluidata

Gigaclear revamped their pricing recently with pricing now ranging from £37/month for a 50 Mbps symmetric service to £69/month for the full 1000 Mbps service. For those that just need the occasional extra burst of speed, you can buy a boost that runs for 48 hours and increases the slower packages to the full speed for £4.80.

Now that is interesting
They seem to have abandoned the "Burst to 1Gbps and guaranteed at 10Mbps symmetrical" offering in favour of a straight 50/50 service at the same price as the main retail service

So they have had to remove the video showing the 980Mbps download.....

I'm sure also they have added in a new service area criterion
"Not served by nor planned to be served by superfast broadband"

1 Gbit/s Business price is £499/mo or for uncontended "enterprise" £2,990/mo. Home 1G is £69/mo.

Good to see the option of retail choice becoming available.

It will be interesting to see what prices other ISPs will charge fo access over a Gigaclear network.

This is great, just hope more altnets can emerge to provide the competition needed. We need open access to fat pipes.
