Zen launches NGA Ethernet service
Zen with the launch of its NGA Ethernet service is trying to bridge the large price gap between the standard broadband products and the more expensive Ethernet First Mile EFM) products.
The NGA Ethernet service may look slow compared to the standard 40/10 and 80/20 broadband products, but the with the service available at speeds of 2 Mbps through to 10 Mbps in 2 Mbps increments and offering guaranteed bandwidth it allows a company to operate with certainty as to how their connection will perform. Added to this are fully managed hardware, 100% SLA, 24/7 support, 4 hour onsite response time and ADSL backup elements.
"For business wanting to move away from contended services such as broadband or replace older technology leased lines but without the higher costs of dedicated Ethernet, NGA Ethernet is the perfect choice. NGA Ethernet can reach even more businesses than EFM and brings with it many benefits for businesses. NGA Ethernet is a key enabling technology for a whole range of business Internet services such as e-commerce, Cloud computing and remote working."Andrew Saunders, Head of Product Management and Marketing Zen Internet
The service will be available from some 1,200 exchange locations and is delivered via the Openreach FTTC or FTTP platform, so will require you to be able to receive that service. Zen also offers more traditional EFM and leased products that can run at up to 1 Gbps.
All too often there are stories of businesses losing hundreds or thousands of pounds a day when their £20 to £35 month business connection breaks, when in reality the only difference to the usual consumer products is the presence of a VAT invoice. Any business where slow or broken broadband means lost revenue needs to assess the risks and seriously consider their alternatives if the worst was to happen.
