YouTube on verge of creating paid subscription channels

YouTube has had advertising funding options that create revenue for both YouTube and the video uploader for some time, but it appears that after starting to experiment with pay per view movie rental in 2010 the video giant is to offer channels that carry a subscription.

The first reaction from many will be the worry that channels they subscribe to now for free may suddenly require a subscription, but from what we can see at this time, charging is likely to only happen for new channels and is part of the wider migration from satellite, cable and digital terrestrial delivery platforms for niche interest channels.

In countries like France where the debate on net neutrality can be heated, if YouTube was to increase the amount of content it charged for it may find it harder to resist the calls from providers in France and some other countries to pay them for carrying their traffic.
