EE 4G service landing in 17 more towns and cities

If a 4G enabled phone was on your letter to Santa then the latest announcement from EE increases the odds that you will be able to see a 4G signal. The mobile operator has in the last week gone live in Derby, Newcastle and Nottingham, and before the end of 2012 Belfast, Hull, Maidenhead and Slough are also due to be offering 4G services.

The expansion continues in the first three months of 2013 seeing 4G services covering another 4 million people across the UK, the areas due to get service by March are Bradford, Chelmsford, Coventry, Doncaster, Dudley, Leicester, Luton, Newport, Reading, Rotherham, St Albans, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Watford, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton.

Testing of the service has revealed an average of 17 Mbps outdoors, but the effect of going indoors is very obvious with the speed dropping to 9.7 Mbps, the upload speed was a healthy 5.1 Mbps indoors.

3G has not given up, and EE is continuing its roll-out of DC-HSPA which is live on around 40% of the EE network, the backhaul network is not being neglected as Gigabit Ethernet connections are being deployed to reduce congestion.

For those who have not completed all their Christmas shopping and are chasing for a new tablet, EE has added the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE and a Google Nexus 7 with Huawei’s E589 Mobile WiFi device to the range of devices they sell.

EEs network lacks balance whereas with Three you get a decent speed everywhere.

Three giving you decent speeds everywhere - don't make me laugh, come to Lancashire and try using three here with speeds less than 0.5mb down. Three speeds might be consistent, but consistently slow.
